Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli expressed his gratitude to fans for their birthday wishes as he celebrated his 35th birthday by achieving a remarkable milestone.
Kohli scored his 49th ODI century during India’s World Cup match against South Africa at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, matching the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
Kohli shared his thanks on a social media platform, stating, “Thanks to each one of you for your kind wishes. Grateful and Blessed.”
He not only equaled Tendulkar’s ODI centuries record but also became the third Indian batsman to score an ODI century on his birthday, following Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli.
This century made Kohli India’s highest run-scorer in the ongoing World Cup and marked his first time crossing 500 runs in a World Cup edition.
India won the match, with Kohli contributing to a total of 326 for 6, and they secured their position at the top of the World Cup 2023 points table with 16 points from eight matches.
