Sikandar Raza credits PBKS’s last-ball win against CSK in Chepauk: IPL 2023
Sikandar Raza of Punjab Kings commented that their victory against Chennai Super Kings was achieved by running aggressively. PBKS defeated CSK by four wickets in a nail-biting finish at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, securing their fifth win of the IPL 2023 season.

IPL 2023: Punjab Kings all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, attributed their victory against Chennai Super Kings to their aggressive running in the match. PBKS managed to clinch a last-ball thriller at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, defeating CSK by four wickets and securing their fifth win of the season.
Raza, coming from a Zimbabwean culture, stressed on the importance of team triumphs over individual performances. In the match, Raza contributed 13 runs off just 7 deliveries and ran three runs on the final ball of the innings, which ultimately led to PBKS’s win.

Raza also discussed the PBKS team’s strategy ahead of the final delivery, where they required three runs to win. He mentioned that the team may have considered retiring one of the batters to get in a better runner, but he was uncertain as many arms were raised in the dressing room. Ultimately, they decided to focus on running hard since they needed only one boundary to achieve a run a ball in the final over.
Sikandar Raza expressed his delight in contributing to the team’s victory over Chennai Super Kings by aggressive running. He also credited Liam Livingstone’s performance in the 16th over for turning the game in their favor. Livingstone smashed three sixes off Tushar Deshpande’s bowling, and from then on, PBKS never looked back.
Raza also mentioned Jitesh Sharma’s contribution to the team and spoke about his own attempt to target the bigger boundary but was unable to hit many boundaries. PBKS will now focus on their upcoming match against Mumbai Indians, which will take place at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on May 3.
