According to a report, authorities in Malaysia seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft on Tuesday due to a lease dispute.

The plane, which was acquired on lease from Malaysia, was seized at Kuala Lumpur International Airport because of unpaid dues amounting to $4 million. The seizure followed a court order. The incident was reported by ARY News.

According to the report, the aircraft that was seized in Malaysia in 2023 over non-payment of dues is the same one that faced a similar issue in 2021.

However, back in 2021, the aircraft was released after Pakistan provided a diplomatic assurance regarding the payment of dues.

The report mentioned that on January 27, 2021, the seized PIA plane was returned to Pakistan with 173 passengers and crew members on board.
