On Tuesday morning, a hijab-wearing woman was shot by French police in a Paris metro station, according to local media reports. Witnesses stated that the woman had been behaving in a threatening manner, prompting the police response.
Allegedly, she had shouted “Allah Hu Akbar” and threatened to blow up the subway. The police claim that she refused to follow their orders and threatened to detonate herself.
Consequently, a police officer fired a single shot, critically injuring the woman in the abdomen. No explosives or weapons were found on her.
The fire service promptly provided emergency medical assistance, and she was transported to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The incident occurred at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France station. As a precautionary measure, the authorities evacuated the metro station to ensure public safety. Based on the woman’s behavior, police are reportedly considering the possibility of an Islamist “terrorist” motivation.
