Odisha: Ex-headmaster gets 10 years in jail for sexual abuse
The 62-year-old convict, former headmaster in Sundargarh district, Odisha, found guilty of molesting 11 girls.

Odisha: A former headmaster of a government primary school in Sundargarh district, Odisha, has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court for sexually abusing 11 girl students in 2015. The abuses included forcing some girls to disrobe and committing sexual assault, as well as criminal intimidation.

The cases came to light when one student informed her mother, leading to an FIR being lodged in November 2015.The convict was found guilty of multiple violations under the POCSO Act, IPC, and SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The court also imposed a Rs 47,000 fine on the convict, with an additional six months of imprisonment for failing to pay, and directed compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to two victims and Rs 2 lakh each to nine other victims to be paid by the district legal service authority.
