BJP’s ‘Beti Jalao’ Slogan Sparks Controversy: Mamata Banerjee Responds on Manipur Violence and Bilkis Bano Case

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, strongly criticized the BJP for its handling of the ongoing violence in Manipur, as well as for their approach towards the Bilkis Bano case and the sexual harassment allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP during the Trinamool Congress’ ‘Martyrs Day’ rally in Kolkata. She slammed the BJP over the ongoing violence in Manipur, the early release of Bilkis Bano’s convicts, and the bail granted to WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was accused of sexual harassment by wrestlers.

Referring to the ‘Beti Bachao’ slogan, she stated that it has transformed into ‘Beti Jalao’ under the BJP’s rule. The remarks were made after Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was granted bail in the sexual harassment case. Banerjee expressed concern about the country’s current situation and expressed confidence that the women would hold the BJP accountable in the upcoming elections.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the BJP over multiple issues during the Trinamool Congress’ ‘Martyrs Day’ rally in Kolkata. She condemned the ongoing violence in Manipur and expressed solidarity with the people of the region.

Mamata Banerjee also denounced the early release of convicts in the Bilkis Bano gang rape case and the bail granted to WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who faced sexual harassment allegations.

She declared her party’s support for the Opposition alliance INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) and stated that the TMC’s protests against the Centre will be organized under this banner.

TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee announced a massive protest in Delhi on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, against the central government’s actions, including blocking funds for schemes in West Bengal.

He expressed confidence in the newly formed opposition alliance, believing it would form the government in 2024. Mamata Banerjee emphasized that her party’s goal is not just to gain power but to see the BJP regime replaced.
