Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, aged 16 years and 87 days, became LaLiga’s youngest goalscorer with a close-range strike against Granada. In August, he set a record as Barcelona’s youngest debutant and went on to become Spain’s youngest-ever international and scorer at 16 years and 57 days in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia. Trailing 2-0, Yamal scored just before halftime, surpassing the previous record set by Malaga’s Fabrice Olinga.

Born and raised in Spain with a Moroccan father, Yamal has become an important player in Barcelona’s forward line. His call-up to the senior Spain team dashed the hopes of Moroccan fans.
Barcelona currently sits in third place with 21 points, one point behind Girona and three points behind leaders Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid is in fourth place with 19 points and a game in hand. After a controversial offside ruling, Barca’s players and manager, Xavi Hernandez, expressed their dissatisfaction. Xavi mentioned that despite their dominance and possession, they made mistakes and deserved more from the match.
